At the time when this site is going
online in July of 2016, the conventional view appears
to be that the school is about to be demolished and
turned into a parking lot. This brings to mind
the lyrics of Joni Mitchell's song "Big Yellow Taxi" -
"Don't it always seem to go That
you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They
paved paradise And put up a parking lot".
While even those who hold the school in high regard
would be stretching it to suggest it was "paradise, it
is true that only when its future is uncertain are
people beginning to appreciate it and apparently
people do believe it is going to be turned into a
parking lot. HOWEVER, the fact is that as A B
Ellis moves out, the Separate School system is about
to move in. So we have made the decision to
respect that fact and only publish a limited number of
images of the inside of the building at this
time. If in the future the building is in danger
of demolition, we do have a photographic record of it
we could share at that time. Once again Jason
Morrow has to be thanked for his assistance in this
area. So without explanation lets take a brief
walk through the building to jog our memories.
A peek into a few classrooms. |
