John Island Camp

The John Island Camp is a YMCA  summer camp and residential outdoor and environmental education centre. It is located near the town of Spanish, Ontario. In 2016, the camp will be celebrating its 63rd year of operation. John Island serves children, young adults and adults through traditional camp programs: adventure, leadership development, and wilderness travel.   During the Spring, it operates as an Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre. More than 750 participants per year experience their programs coming from more than 40 schools across Northeastern Ontario. Students participate in outdoor recreation programs, leadership development programs, and special environmental learning programs.

Below is an image showing Bill Farnham and Jack Tait at John Island in 1979.

The image below, donated by Dale Proctor, shows Grant Lewis, Bob Sproule, Rock Taylor, Bill Farnham and, I think, Jack Tait at John Island in 1980.

The image below is also from Dale Proctor.  It shows Principal Roger Gardner being "pied" prior to the students leaving to travel to John Island.
